Abstract

The paper aims to stimulate and share new opinions on the opportunity to reorganise and enhance the wide universe of digital applications to handle the Italian university system, trying to outline a forward-looking scenario considered in its structural components (teaching, research and third mission) placing people at its core. The final aim is to design networked and integrated digital platforms in collaboration with CINECA Inter-University Consortium, with the aim to submit to it the areas of intervention where it is possible and desirable to think about the development and subsequent implementation of innovative and original products, making Italian universities catch up on the most qualified international situations by fostering the transition to an open, transparent, inclusive and sustainable system.

Author Biographies

Davide Bruno, Politecnico di Milano (Italy)

Architect and PhD in Industrial Design, he is an Associate Professor. He was a Member of the Patents Commission of the Polytechnic University of Milan. In 2001, he won the ‘Compasso d’Oro’ award for the university project Agenzia SDI. Over the last years, he carried out design and consultation projects in the field of public transportation, coordinating high-complexity projects.

Felice D’Alessandro, University of Milan (Italy)

Civil engineer and PhD, he is an Associate Professor at the Department of Environmental Science and Policy. He participated in national and EU projects and tested physical models at highly qualified international laboratories. His research is focused mainly on environmental hydraulics and risk evaluation.
