Abstract

What are the reasons for dealing with the subject of training architects, as most architecture journals have been doing since the 1930s, questioning the teaching methods and investigating the teaching mechanisms in relation to the profession? What are the topics covered and the methods for their development? Through some significant examples – even the most recent ones – we will strive for illustrating the state of the art, showing how the debate has taken place throughout the different social or cultural periods and contexts, considering whether and how it has affected the definition of subsequent actions, academic or not.
